Researchers from the VAR-CODA-CERVA, Brussels, Belgium, used viability PCR for evaluating the infectious potential of this obligate intracellular pathogen. In this work, a high EMA concentration (100uM) has been combined with low sample temperature (4ºC) and incubation during long time (30 min). With this approach, for first time, has been demonstrated the feasibility of viability PCR for intracellular bacteria.
